Once there was a boy and the boy loved stars very much.

从前有一个男孩,他非常爱星星。

Every night the boy watched the stars from his window and wished he had one of his very own.

每天晚上这个男孩都会透过窗户看着星星,希望他有一个星星是属于他自己的。

He dreamed how this star might be hisfriend.

他梦想着和这颗星星成为好朋友，

They would play hide-and-go-seek and take long walks together.

他们可以一起捉迷藏，一起散步，走长长的路。

The boy decided he would try to catch one.

于是，男孩决定去抓一颗星星。

He thought that getting up early in the morning would be best,because then the star would be tired from being up in the sky all night.

他想，一定要在很早很早的时候就起床出发。因为星星整晚都挂在夜空中会疲惫的。

The next day he set out of sunrise.

于是，第二天日出他就出发了。

But he could not see a star anywhere. He sat down and waited for one to appear.

可他连一颗星星也没有看到，他坐下来，等星星出现。

He waited……and he waited……and ate lunch.

他等啊……等啊……吃过了午饭。

……and waited.

……他还在等。

And after dinner he waited some more. Finally, just before the sun was about to go away, he saw a star.

吃过晚饭，他又继续等。终于，就在太阳落下去之前，他看到了一颗星星。

The boy tried to jump up and grab it.But he could not jump high enough.

男孩跳起来，想去抓星星，可是他没办法跳那么高。

So,very carefully, he climbed to the top of the tallest tree he could find.

于是，他找到一棵最高的树，非常小心地爬到树顶。

But the star was still way out of reach.

可是星星还是太远了，够不着。

He thought he might lasso the star with the life belt from his father's boat. But it was much too heavy for him to carry.

他想，他也许可以用爸爸船上的救生圈把星星套下来，可是救生圈太重了，他拿不动。

He thought he could fly up in his spaceship and just grab the star. But his spaceship had run out of petrol last Tuesday when he flew to the moon.

他想，他可以坐宇宙飞船去抓星星，可是上周二他去月球的时候，已经用光了飞船的汽油。

Perhaps he could get a seagullto help him fly up into the sky to reach his star?But the only seagull he couldfind didn't want to help at all.

也许，他可以让海鸥把他带到天上，这样，他就可以够到星星了。可他找到的唯一一只海鸥，却不太愿意帮忙。

The boy thought he would never catch a star.

男孩心想，他永远都抓不到星星了。

Just then he noticed something floating in the water.It was the prettiest star hehad ever seen.

就在这时，他发现水面上漂着一样东西，一颗他见过的最美的星星，

Just a baby star.

一颗星宝宝。

It must have fallen from the sky.

它一定是从天上掉下来的。

He tried to fish the star out with his hands. But he couldn't reach it.

他试着用双手把星星捞上来，可是他够不到。

Then he had an idea. The star might wash up on the shore.He ran back along the jetty to the beach.

这时他想，星星可能会被冲到岸上来，于是，他顺着栈桥朝岸边跑去。

Then he waited and walked……and watched and waited……and，sure enough, the star washed up on the bright ，golden sand.

就这样，他边走边等……边看边等……果然，星星被冲到了亮闪闪、金灿灿的沙滩上。

The boy had caught a star.A star of his very own.

男孩摘到了星星，一颗属于他自己的星星。
