This is the story of Dragon Mountain, Phoenix Mountain and a shining lake. It begins thousands of years ago, in China.

这是一个关于龙山、凤凰山还有一片闪亮亮的湖水的故事。这个故事发生在几千年以前的中国。这是一个古老的故事。

Long, long ago, a dragon lived beside a magic river.

很久很久以前，魔法河边住着一条神龙。

A dark forest grew on the other side of the river. Deep inside the forest lived a phoenix.

河的对面有一片漆黑的森林。森林深处住着一只凤凰。

Every day, the dragon swam in the river. Every day, the phoenix flew in the sky above.

神龙每天在河里游啊游。凤凰每天在天空中飞啊飞。

One day, they met on an island in the river. A shiny pebble lay on the sand. (it's beautiful!)

一天，他们在河中央的陆地上相遇。他们发现沙滩上有一个闪亮的鹅卵石。(太美了!)

The dragon washed it in the river. The phoenix polished it with a feather. And the pebble became a pearl.

神龙小心翼翼地拿到河里清洗它。凤凰用羽轻轻地擦拭它。在百般呵护下，鹅卵石变成了珍珠。

The dragon and the phoenix stayed on the island……watching the pearl.

神龙和凤凰守在珍珠身边，目不转睛的盯着这颗珍珠。

The pearl shone brighter than stars……brighter than the sun. It was so bright, the Queen of Heaven saw it shine.

这颗珍珠要比星星还闪，比太阳还亮。因为它太亮了，连王母娘娘都看到了它发出耀眼的光。

“I want that pearl!” she said.That night, she sent a guard to steal it.

她说：“我想要那颗珍珠!”当晚，她就派守卫去偷走珍珠。

In the morning, the pearl was gone. The dragon looked in the magic river. The phoenix looked in the dark forest. No pearl there…

第二天一早，珍珠不见了。神龙以为珍珠掉到了魔法河里。凤凰以为珍珠消失在森林里。哪都找不到珍珠。

Then they saw it shining in the sky. They flew up to Heaven and saw the Queen. The pearl fell from the sky…(That pearl is ours!)(No,it's mine.)

忽然，他们发现珍珠原来在天上正发出耀眼的光。他们飞到天宫，看到了王母娘娘。一顿争吵过后，珍珠从空中坠落。(这个珍珠是我们的!)(不，这是我的。)

It landed on the ground and became a shining lake. The dragon and the phoenix lay beside it. They are still there today. (We must never leave it. )

珍珠落地，变成了一片耀眼的湖。神龙和凤凰在湖边无时无刻地守候。他们至今还在。(我们绝不能离开它。)
