哈伯德老太太家里很穷，她和一只小狗相依为命。一天，哈伯德老太太牵着小狗去肉铺。就在付款时发现没有带钱。他们非常沮丧，正准备回家，这时发生了一件让人惊喜的事情。到底发什么了什么呢?

绘本内容翻译：

Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard, to fetch her poor doggie a bone.

哈伯德大妈走到碗柜旁，想拿骨头给她可怜的狗狗吃。

But when she got there, the cupboard was bare.

但她发现碗柜里空空的，什么都没有。

And so the poor doggie had none.

所以可怜的狗狗什么都没吃到。

Old Mother Hubbard shut up the cupboard and put on her warm winter clothes.

哈伯德大妈关上碗橱，穿上暖和的冬衣，对小狗Spot说道：

“We’ll have to go out,” she said with a shout, “before all the butchers are closed.”

“我们得在所有肉铺关门前出去一趟。”

So off down the lane, through wind and through rain, went Old Mother Hubbard and Spot.

于是哈伯德大妈沿着街道，冒着风雨，牵着狗狗Spot向商店走去。

Till they came to a stop, at Bob’s Butcher’s Shop.

后来他们在Bob的肉铺停下来了。

And they went in to see what was what.

她们走进店里看看里面都有什么。

There was plenty of meat, for a doggie-sized treat, but the old lady picked out a bone.

里面有很多专门为狗狗准备的肉，但是哈伯德大妈只挑了一根骨头。

Then came the snag, when she looked in her bag.

她打开钱包时出了个小意外。

She had left all her money at home.

原来她把所有钱都落在家里了。

The pair stepped outside.

她们只能沮丧地离开商店。

“Stop thief!” came Bob’s cry.

这时突然传来Bob的哭喊声：“别跑，小偷!”

And a man hurried by in a flash.

与此同时有个男人急匆匆跑过来。

He ran with such speed, he tripped on Spot’s lead.

小偷跑得实在太快，后来被牵Spot的绳子绊倒。

And went flying, along with the cash.

他一下子飞了出去，偷来的钱也撒了一地。

“Your dog stopped that thief,” said Bob with thief.

Bob 激动地说道：“你的狗帮我抓住了小偷。”

“So I must reward you, my dear.”

“所以亲爱的，我必须要好好报答你。”

Now Old Mother Hubbard has a very full cupboard.

现在哈伯德大妈的碗橱堆满了各种食物。

And her doggie has best steak all year.

她的狗狗Spot一整年都有吃不完的最好的牛排。
