绘本内容翻译：

Kipper didn’t want to go to sleep.

“Biff and Chip are at Gran’s,” he said.

“I don’t like being on my own.”

Kipper不想去睡觉。

“Biff和Chip在奶奶家，”

他说：“我不喜欢自己一个人。”

“Poor Kipper,” thought Floppy.

“I’ll stay with him.”

“可怜的Kipper，”Floppy心想。

“我跟他在一起吧。”

“Oh no, Floppy,” said Mum.

“Kipper is going to sleep.”

“哦不，Floppy，”妈妈说。

“Kipper准备睡觉了。”

But Kipper wasn’t going to sleep.

He was wide awake.

但是Kipper不准备去睡觉。

他现在很清醒。

“I can’t go to sleep,” he grumbled.

“I just can’t!”

“我睡不着，”他嘟囔着。

“我就是睡不着!”

Kipper laughed.

“I know! I’ll play a trick,” he said.

“I’ll trick Dad and get him to come upstairs.”

Kipper笑了。“我知道了!我要开一个玩笑，”

他说：“我要把爸爸骗到楼上来。”

He jumped up and down on his bed.

“Dad!” he yelled.

“There’s a hairy-scary monster!

It’s coming to get me, Dad. Help!”

他在床上上蹿下跳。“爸爸!”

他喊着：“有一只可怕的毛茸茸的怪物!他要来抓我啦，爸爸，救命!”

Dad ran up to Kipper’s bedroom.

Floppy barked and ran after him.

爸爸跑到了Kipper的卧室。

Floppy吠着跑到他后面。

“What monster?” said Dad.

“Where is it?”

“什么怪物?”爸爸说：

“在哪儿呢?”

Kipper pointed to the curtains.

“It’s behind the curtains,” he said.

“It’s got sharp yellow teeth and glowing red eyes.”

Kipper指着窗帘。

“它在窗帘后面呢，”他说：

“它有尖尖的黄牙和发光的红眼睛。”

Dad looked behind the curtains,

but he didn’t see a monster.

爸爸看了看窗帘后面，

但是他没有看见怪物。

“There’s no monster here,” he said. ”Look!”

“这儿没有怪物，”

他说：“看啊!”

“It was a trick,” laughed Kipper.

“It was just a trick!”

“这是个玩笑，”Kipper大笑道：

“只是一个玩笑而已!”

Dad laughed, and tucked Kipper up.

“Be a good boy and go to sleep,” he said.

“And no more tricks!”

爸爸笑了，帮Kipper盖好了被子。

“睡觉吧，做个好孩子。”

他说：“别再耍花招啦!”
