Winnie’s Magic Wand

Winnie the Witch jumped out of bed. It was a special day. It was the day of the Witches’ MagicShow, and Winnie was making a wonderful new spell.

女巫温妮从床上跳了下来，今天是很特别的一天，温妮要在女巫魔法秀上表演一个精彩的新魔法。

She felt nervous. ‘I hope nothing goes wrong,’ she said. Wilbur felt nervous too. I except something will go wrong, he thought.

她有点儿紧张，“希望不要出什么岔子，”温妮说。威尔伯也有点儿紧张，“额，我觉得会出点儿岔子，”他想。

‘What shall I wear?’ said Winnie. She got out her party dress. Oh, no! She had spilt redjelly on it!

温妮认真地思考着，应该穿什么衣服。她在衣柜里找呀找，终于找出了自己的晚礼服。可是拿出来仔细一看，才发现晚礼服上沾上了红色的果冻!

Winnie threw thedress into the washing machine. Then she threw in her towels, her pyjamas, andher stripy tights.

温妮急忙把晚礼服扔进了洗衣机里，然后还把毛巾，睡衣，还有条纹连裤袜都扔了进去。

She turned on thewashing machine. Swish, swish, clunk, it went.

紧接着，她打开了洗衣机。哗啦啦，哗啦啦，轰隆隆，洗衣机开始工作了。

When the washingmachine had finished going swish, swish, clunk, Winnie took out the clothes andhung them on the line.

当洗衣机终于不再哗啦啦，哗啦啦，轰隆隆响的时候，温妮把衣服拿了出来，晒到了晾衣绳上。

But her magic wandhad been washed as well. Oh, no!

‘ I hope it willworks,’ Winnie said.

可是，这时候她才猛然发现，她的魔法棒也被洗了。哦，不会吧!

“但愿还能用，”温妮着急地说。

Winnie dried thewand with a towel.

‘ I’ll try it out,’she said. ‘ Something easy. I’ll change this apple into an orange.’

说着，她拿出了毛巾，擦了擦魔法棒。然后试着说：“我得先试试看，先来点简单的吧。嗯，我要把这个苹果变成橙子。”

She closed hereyes, waved her wand, and shouted, ABRACADABRA!

她闭上眼睛，挥动魔法棒，然后大喊一声，ABRACADABRA!

Suddenly there wasan apple tree growing in her kitchen. ‘ Bother!’ said Winnie. ‘ That wand’s notworking properly.’

话音刚落。厨房里就一下子长出了一棵苹果树。“糟糕!”温妮说。“魔法棒出问题了。”

Winnie dried thewand with her hair-drier.

‘That’s better,’she said. ‘ I’ll try again. I’ll turn this apple tree back into an apple again.’ She picked up thewand, and shouted, ABRACADABRA!

看着厨房里长出的这棵巨大的苹果树，温妮惊慌不已。她赶紧拿出吹风机，吹了吹魔法棒。“这样应该会好些吧，我要再试一次，我要把这棵苹果树再变回苹果。”说着她又拿起了魔法棒，大喊一声，ABRACADABRA!

This time, theapple tree turned into an enormous apple pie.

可是，没想到，苹果树还是没能变成苹果。而是变成了一个巨大的苹果派。

‘ Oh no! Oh no!’Winnie moaned. Now she really was worried. It was nearly time for the MagicShow. The wonderful new spell would be a disaster. Wilbur was worried too.

“哦，不!哦，不!”温妮难过地说。现在，她真的很着急。魔法秀的时间就快到了。眼看温妮就没法儿表演那了不起的新魔法了。威尔伯也很着急。
