海尼曼分级阅读是专门针对非英语母语国家儿童学习的一套分级阅读教材，这套教材最大的特色在于低级别，一本书一个句型，每本书的文字几乎都是同样的句式，通过同一句式的反复出现，在重复中不经意的为孩子输入一些英语句法，让孩子在没有接触英语语法的前提下，只是通过阅读，就能非常容易记住内容，并学会正确表达。

整个海尼曼系统按照A-Z 26个字母来分级，在整个基础上还按照年级的顺序进行分级(GRADE K, GRADE 1,GRADE 2……)。

国内版海尼曼分级读物分三个级别，Gk，G1，G2，3个分级共298本。海尼曼三个级别分别对应英美国家的幼儿园，小学一年级和小学二年级，每个级别里面又划分了多个等级，让孩子可以循序渐进的适应更高级别的学习。

It was very late.

Mother and Father were in bed.

Andy was fast asleep.

But Roxy was wide awake.

She looked at the moon.

She watched Andy sleep.

She looked at the cracks in the wall.

“Mother!” Roxy called. Mother ran into the room.

“I can’t sleep!” Roxy said.

“Will you read one more book? Maybe then I’ll fall asleep.”

Mother read one more book.

“Now go to sleep, Roxy,” she said.

Roxy closed her eyes.

She flopped onto her back.

She rolled onto her belly.

She flopped onto her back again.

But she just could not fall asleep.

“Father!” Roxy called. Father ran in.

“I’m thirsty,” said Roxy. “Maybe a glass of milk will help me go to sleep.”

Father got a glass of warm milk, and Roxy drank every drop.

“Goodnight, Roxy,” said Father.

“Go to sleep now.”

Roxy pushed her blankets off.

She pulled them back on.

She pushed them off and pulled them on.

Then she threw the blankets on the floor.
